Ken Hislop and the Window Advice Centre helped us immeasurably to replace the aging windows in our A-listed property with slimline double-glazed windows which satisfied not only the local planning authority, but Glasgow City Heritage Trust as well. Thanks to him, we were able to not only navigate the planning system, but also successfully achieve the conditions that our grant was made conditional upon. I do not think that we would have managed this on our own.
The service Ken provided was exemplary. During his initial visit I was struck by the sheer competence, experience, honesty and passion for his craft that he conveyed. He spoke clearly and articulately about every detail of the windows he was proposing and provided us with a bespoke report with every aspect that he had spoken about. This report ultimately helped to convince Glasgow City Heritage Trust to provide grant assistance with our project.
He helped us to uniquely understand some additional window features that would benefit us based on our location on a main road – for example, additional soundproofing features of the glass that would be used.
Following this, the Window Advice Centre procured three quotes for the fabrication and installation of the windows and advised us upon how to move forward. He and his architectural technician took care of every little detail regarding planning applications and liaised constantly with the Glasgow City Heritage Trust to ensure that every detail of the windows would be to their liking.
The quality of the contractors who won the bid to fabricate and install our windows were second-to-none. Knowledgable, efficient, clean, and a pride taken in their work. The installation was also much faster than we had thought, with a total of two days being required to replace eleven windows!
In summary, we couldn’t be happier. I wish that a company like the Window Advice Centre existed for all aspects of home renovation!
