TEN YEAR INSURANCE PROTECTED GUARANTEES

When contractors cease to trade, their Guarantees become worthless.

With Window Advice Centre, you are not just relying on the one contractor’s guarantee, you are protected for ten years by a Department of Trade and Industry approved insurance company and the resources of a national network of contractors.

This means that you avoid the risk of a contractor’s guarantee becoming invalid should the company cease trading at any point over the guarantee period.

Your terms of cover are not subject to annual review, new ‘exclusion’ or any possibility of the withdrawal of cover just when you need it.

CERTIFICATION

Once your Consultant confirms that all aspects of the contractor’s work is satisfactory, he will provide you with a certificate confirming that the installation complies with Building Regulations.

This document is very valuable as it is now generally accepted, if you are selling your home, that it should be produced to prove compliance. Almost like an MOT certificate, absence of documentation can mean unforeseen costs, delays and complications during the process of selling your home.

Certification is provided at no charge as part of the Window Advice Centre service. Those who have not used the service require to pay a fee of £125. Compliance Certificates are also available from most local authorities at circa £175.

CONSULTANTS’ ETHICAL CODE

Window Advice Centre Consultants are obliged to adhere to strict Codes of Practice and the Codes of Ethical Conduct of the professional institution to which they belong, i.e., the Royal Institute of British Architects, The Royal Incorporation of Architects Scotland and The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

These Codes preclude preferential treatment being given to any individual contractor or supplier and ensure that only impartial advice is given. To do anything other than this could lead to disbarment.

APPROVED CONTRACTORS

Window Advice Centre holds a Register of Approved Contractors.

Any contractor able to prove that they are financially stable with a minimum of two years trading and able to provide Certification from independent testing laboratories such as the Building Research Establishment (BRE) to show that their materials meet or exceed the requirements of the British Standards is free to apply for assessment.

To ensure that the contractor is capable of meeting the service standards set out in the Window Advice Centre Code of Practice, a number of their installations are inspected and references are obtained from previous clients.

Contractors remain on the approved register only if they continue to be recommended by Window Advice Centre Consultants and Clients. In this way, even if you have not been previously aware of a contractor, you can be certain that they have a positive track record of previously satisfied clients and that they continue to meet expected standards.
