Impartial, reliable advice

"He wasn’t here to sell us windows he was here to advise us on the best type of windows to put into the house"

Mr Dobson

HOW TO PURCHASE EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED, NOT WHAT SOMEONE ELSE WANTS YOU TO BUY WHAT ABOUT BUILDING REGULATIONS AND PLANNING...?

Product and contractor selection can be difficult in the absence of independent impartial advice.

Window Advice Centre Consultants are available to help you identify which of the many products on the market is best suited for your needs and your preferences. Whilst the Consultants have many years of experience, they have no vested interest in any one product or contractor.

When you first contact Window Advice Centre, a Consultant is allocated to look after your interests from initial discussion through to the point that your work is approved for payment.

Your Consultant will arrange to meet with you to discuss what you are looking to do and importantly develop a clear understanding of the benefits that you want to achieve. Your particular requirements may be to reduce heat loss, noise, or maintenance, or simply to enhance the security or appearance of your home.

Your Consultant will then survey your property and discuss the merits and probable costs of the various options that meet your needs and help you to refine your proposals to avoid any unnecessary costs that would not contribute to delivering the benefits that you are looking to secure.

Once you are completely happy, your Consultant will take detailed notes of your wishes from which a technical specification document will be prepared.

It is this document that allows your Consultant to source up to ten directly comparable contractors costs on your behalf.

"The help that we got, the information that we got, with no hard sell from anybody - I mean there was never a salesman came here at all - I thought was just excellent."

Mrs Gray

Local Authority regulations are often low in consumer’s list of things to take into account. However, it could be very costly if you get it wrong.

Local Authorities have the power to oblige that you remove and replace, at your own expense, any work that does not comply. Because of this, when you come to sell your house, you may find that the cost of replacing anything that does not comply is deducted from the sales value.

"The worst time you want to discover it is when you are trying to sell your house because almost certainly the surveyors will pick it up and raise it with the buying solicitors - and that's the time you do not want to be bothered"

Mr Ross: President, Scottish Association of Chief Building Control Officers

WHAT ABOUT BUILDING REGULATIONS AND PLANNING...?

Not every double glazing contractor is equally suitable for every installation, nor are the many different products which are available as they all vary in quality, performance and cost.

Matching the right product to your specific needs is essential.

As an example, compare the performance requirements for an exposed third floor window with that of a sheltered ground floor window where security might be a concern.

The appropriate product for the third floor would be one with a high exposure rating capable of keeping out high winds and driving rain where as the ground floor requires a product that can keep out intruders. Fitting the wrong product for the job would be pointless and a waste of money.

This is just one example of the many factors that need to be taken into account when selecting products.
